Our Schallerhof
Schallerhof – farm holiays in Sterzing/South Tyrol
You may have already noticed that the clocks tick a little differently here, perhaps a little slower. Experiencing nature, focussing on the essentials, taking in the moment and at the same time not forgetting traditions – these are some of the key points that influence our daily work on the farm.
Team “Schallerhof”
Bossy goats, pious sheep and dotty chicken ladies – or so you might think. But our animals cannot be labelled into preformed character categories. Animal welfare is our top priority, because a happy goat produces better milk! It’s logical, isn’t it? We are convinced that you can taste the difference. Whether it’s the hen’s egg, the milk or the meat.

Meow
The farm cat ‘Katze’ is the fluffy star at the Schallerhof. She is always up for a cuddle. ‘Disi’, the lucky black cat, is a little shy but an excellent hunter.

Maa
Are goats really stubborn? Not all of them. But they are cuddly, curious and very greedy. And they provide us with good, healthy milk.

Baa
The sheep stay with us on the farm from autumn to early summer, while the ladies spend the summer on the mountain, where they enjoy the alpine summer.

Moo
Do you know mini cows? No? Then it’s about time! Our Dexter cows share the barn with our goats and take a leisurely and slow approach to the day.

Cluck
The hen ladies provide us with fresh, colourful eggs. They are well protected in the run by the cockerels Herbert, Carlos and Roberto!

Quack
Our runner ducks waddle leisurely around the farmyard. Their beaks are always on the ground in search of the next tasty morsel.

???
Whether a pig or chick: at Schallerhof we are always open to new animal-housemates. Who will be the next to move in with us?
Once upon a time …
The Schallerhof farm in Sterzing was first mentioned in a document in 1305; the farm was previously known as ‘Pitschol’. In 2016, we bought the Schallerhof and brought the disbanded farm into the here and now. We cultivate the neighbouring field and a nearby alpine meadow (called ‘Pförfis’) and feed our goats, cows and sheep with the harvested hay. You will discover little detours into the past all around the Schallerhof and in the holiday flats, but the farm building itself is also a few years old.
